How did you first get into music?
Basically from birth, I’ve been around music my whole life. Dad was always playing gigs and constantly watching his band practice, the funny thing is!,.. he’s a guitar player and I turned out a drummer! Lol!
What’s your least favorite “have-to-do” in the industry?
How artist are constantly being ripped off by billion dollar corporations for all their hard work, songs and plays from the artist only getting paid a fraction to the cent!, certain venues and promoters are taking merch cuts from bands that really only make money by selling merchandise. With the cost of everything being so high and the demand for touring and live concerts, it don’t make sense to the artist when you’d be touring to go into debt! Something’s got to give. It’s ridiculous.
What’s the craziest thing that’s happened on tour?
Being held at gunpoint by the Northwest Chicago .S.W.A.T. Team. Apparently someone had reported a person who had a gun in his hand following someone onto the tour buss and thought it was a hostage terrorist situation. I was napping and woke up to my drum tech saying something about they had a couple of my band mates on the ground outside the buss at gunpoint, so instantly I thought I was still sleeping and rolled out of my bunk and sure as shit enough there’s my singer lying on the ground with a gun to his head and 60 other law enforcement with lasers pointing at the buss they had snipers in the far Lmmfao! It was a hoot but after everything was said and done escorted off the buss and realized that all it was was our damn front of house TM at the time bought a BB gun at the Walmart this all happened at haha! Took pictures and signed some records for them. The catch 22 of it all, was that they said they had one of the same occurrences happen with the band “Chevelle”.
What is your favorite thing about being in a touring band?
I love seeing people appreciate music still and support it for what it is man. I love the travel, and meeting new people along with artists and devolving a vast sense of culture
Do you have a favorite song to play live and why?
Yes and no so I’d ultimately have to say no because I enjoy playing all our songs.
What is the best advice you would give to a band that's been grinding and is wanting to give up?
Don’t give up! It’s not easy, keep up the grind. Even though shit slows down or changes, you don’t always have to keep your eggs in one basket. I’ve been in over 12 bands all original and now I’m with Shaman’s Harvest and have been for 8 great years and even being in a national league band, it’s still not a cake walk, the struggle is very real, you do it because you love it and it’s life!, it’s your blood and the air you breath.
If you got to play drums on any three songs what would they be?
"The Wanton Song" by Led Zeppelin
"Paper Tigers" by Thrice
"The Bridge" by the Foo Fighters
"Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers
